The hunting knife Idun is the fifth in the series Northern Lights Fallkniven knives produced in Sweden. Each knife is the name of a different god in Norse mythology. The five knives in order are the Thor, Oden, the Njord, the Frej, and Idun.
Idun was the goddess of eternal youth, fertility and death. She was married to the god of poetry, Bragi. Idun was the sole guardian of the golden apples of eternal youth. Every time one of the gods began to feel old age approaching, I just had to take a bite of one of the golden apples immediate replacement is its youth.
Idun Hunting Knife is a clear representation of the goddess Idun. Like a knife game that brings life and death, life as food for the Hunter, death as an end to hunting. Idun Hunting Knife also has great qualities that are desired in a hunting knife.
The total length of knife is 8 ½ ". The blade is 4" long and is made of laminated VG-10 stainless steel. The advantages of the VG-10 stainless steel is a hard steel that can easily maintain an advantage and maintain durability without the disadvantage of being fragile as is common in some steels high-carbon. The VG-10 is the laminated sheet, or in layers, with 420J-2 layers of stainless steel which gives the corrosion resistance appreciated by hunters, while steel "super" (VG-10 as commonly known) is exposed to the hunter of a worksheet that can be sharpened with a razor thin blade that does not spoil easily or quickly.
The handle of the knife is made of stacked leather not only makes him look impressive, but also gives a more comfortable and full grip. The grip flies of the handle also gives the hunter a better control of the knife. Idun Hunting Knife comes with a leather sheath for easy storage and protection.
